this grey plastic grommet fits into the metal bodywork of the vehicle. A second clip attached to the wheel arch flare or wheel arch trim is then pushed into the grommet and the parts are securely lined up and held in place. These clips can become brittle or damaged over time and so should be replaced whenever the trim or flare is removed or replaced.
